Love poetry

For the first time in an abundant amount of time I was able to hold you within my warmth;
I watched you fall asleep within my grasp again and I could barely hold back the tears;
To see us still trying, still working, putting our past where it belongs and just moving forth;
Letting it all just slip away was not acceptable, and is constantly one of my biggest fears;

Seemed everything we once had was just within arms reach again;
I felt reassured that I was a big part of your life and once again and I was your defender;
I'll keep reaching and pushing the limits, brushing off all of the disdain;
Protecting you from the world, I'd obliterate anything, no matter the gender;
